Pokémon X & Y pre-orders exceed 1.26 million in Japan

Pokémon X & Y pre-orders in Japan have exceeded 1.26 million, according to Media Create, making the titles the highest pre-ordered 3DS games in Japan, ever.

The figures were posted by Famitsu, and according to research conducted by Siliconera, Pokémon Diamond and Pearl were the best-selling games in the series back in 2006, moving 1.58 million copies during the first week.

However, Pokémon Black and White smashed this record in 2010, when both games sold a combined 2.55 million during week one.

Release week should prove to be interesting.

Pokémon X and Y will be released worldwide on October 12.
