Plants vs Zombies 2: Apple denies paid-off Android delay

Apple has denied paying EA to delay the Android release of Plants vs Zombies 2, in defiance of a comment attributed to executive Frank Gibeau.

Both Apple's denial and Gibeau's comment come via Giantbomb, which originally reported on an internal EA presentation today.

According to the site, which confirmed the quote with others watching the presentation, Gibeau said "Apple gave us a truckload of money to delay the Android version [of Plants vs Zombies 2]".

An Apple spokesperson later told the site the comment is "not true", and that no money exchanged hands.

Popcap and EA did not comment on the matter as it was raised during an internal meeting. It's possible Gibeau's quote was related to a marketing deal rather than a concrete discussion of a delay.

The Android port is expected in but not confirmed for October. Having released on just one platform, Plants vs Zombies 2 totted up almost 25 million downloads in just a few weeks.
