New Destiny artwork puts on a real gun show

Destiny has guns. A lot of guns. And Bungie has just released a whole host of new artwork that shows off an arsenal including a pulse rifle, a sniper rifle, a heavy machine-gun, a rocket launcher and a hand cannon. In the latest Destiny podcast, Bungie goes into detail about how these weapons form an important part of the game's storytelling.

As part of this storytelling, the weapons each have their own name. The pulse rifle is Red Death, the sniper rifle Closing Time, the heavy machine-gun Thunderlord, the rocket launcher Gjallarhorn, and the hand cannon Duke MK.44. Currently, there are no weapons with a simple name like Bob.

In the podcast Bungie art lead Tom Doyle says "We're trying to tell a much larger story and a much richer fiction. The weapons are the first thing you see, they're the things that are some of the most persistent forms of artwork in the game and therefore one of the loudest channels to tell those stories in Destiny."

Destiny is set to release in 2014 on PS3, Xbox 360, PS4, and Xbox One.
