Epic Mickey outro animator takes gold at AU awards

Sydney animation studio Plastic Wax won a gold medal at the 2013 Australian Effects and Animation Festival Awards for Epic Mickey's ending cinematic.

The winning video can be viewed below. Plastic Wax provides both pre-rendered and in-engine cutscenes for games, and has worked on BioShock, Transformers, Fallout, Civilization 5 and Neverwinter.

The AEAF Awards include only one category for gaming, Game Cinematics. The silver medal went to Akitipe Studios for mobile title Legendary Heroes, one of a number of awards it has garnered, while Blind Visual Propaganda took out the bronze for Book of Spells.

The annual awards are judged by a panel of animation and effects professionals.
