F.E.A.R. Online reveals details of free-to-play instalment

The first full details on F.E.A.R. Online have emerged, the next instalment in the horror FPS series that sees the franchise go free-to-play for the first time. The game is being developed by Korean company Inplay Interactive.

The press release promises a tense experience as the F.E.A.R. task force investigates Armacham Technology Corporation's sinister experiments. It says "F.E.A.R. Online will feature all-out warfare between the F.E.A.R. soldiers and ATC security personnel, and players will enlist on either side in competitive team combat."

There's also the promise of familiar faces from past F.E.A.R. games, including protagonists Point Man and Michael Beckett.

Others modes available will be team deathmatch, demolition, Soul King (returning from F.E.A.R. 3), and Escape Mode. A new game mode known as Armored Front is a battle to control strategic points, what sounds very similar to Call of Duty's Domination mode. Only each team will have access to a mech, because F.E.A.R. was always all about the mechs.

F.E.A.R. Online will be published by Aeria Games. There's no release date as of yet.
