Xbox One: major "third-party title" to be bundled at launch, FIFA 14 possible - rumour

According to a anonymous sources, Microsoft has signed upon a deal which will allow them to bundle a "major third-party title" free of charge with every Xbox One console at launch.

The deal which is apparently confirmed for Europe (and possibly US) will allow each Xbox One unit sold in the region to be bundled with the game which market price will be around £40 or higher. This move is apparently being made to ensure that the PS4 no longer has an upper hand in terms of being £80 cheaper than Microsoft's console.

A CVG source who is aware of this agreement revealed that the deal is part of Microsoft's aim of adding more value to Xbox One without the need of lowering the £429 launch price.

The third-party title, although not named, is supposed to be a 'major' Christmas release. The report also states that it cost Microsoft millions to sign this deal, which was done to ensure that the Xbox One gets an edge on release day.

The source also added that this major title is a "unique Xbox One exclusive" that is due to be announced during Gamescom this year.

[Update] Seemingly contrary to CVG's source's talk of exclusives, MCV "has been told" that the Xbox One will be bundled with FIFA 14 in Europe.

This latest whisper lines up with earlier reports that Microsoft has a gamescom announcement about "Europe's biggest franchise".

The platform holder has also been teasing an "exciting" announcement and at least one new game reveal.

The Xbox One is scheduled to be released in November this year, although no date has been set in stone as yet.

VG247 will be there in Cologne to bring you all the news as it happens.
