Dota 2 The International drew 1 million concurrent users

Valve came very close to the world record for eSports livestream viewership during the third annual International this weekend.

The company announced that the grand final drew 1 million concurrent viewers, tuning in via Valve's in-client streaming service, Gamefly, and Twitch.

Gamespot reports the all time concurrent viewership record for an eSports events is League of Legends' 1.1 million during the Series 2 Championship final.

The International is Valve's own Dota 2 world championship series, which this year culminated in finals held in Seattle this weekend.

Swedish team Alliance took home top honours, and incidentally $1.43 million, thanks to an enormous prize pool partially funded by sales of the Dota 2 compendium.
