Super Smash Bros. was considered for other Nintendo handhelds

Super Smash Bros. is coming to 3DS, but series lead Masahiro Sakurai has confirmed that he has considered it on other Nintendo handhelds in the past.

Speaking with gamesTM magazine, Sakurai said, "It’s not that I haven’t wanted to – I thought about it, I did. To be honest, we purely didn’t have the opportunity, it just never came up.

"And also, to speak freely, if you look at a handheld device preceding anything before the GBA, I don’t know that it would have the capabilities to fully realize Smash Bros."

I have to agree that the GBA probably didn't have the technical grunt to do the series justice, so it's probably for the best that Sakurai waited until the 3DS dropped before taking Smash Bros. handheld.
