Code Hero website down, alpha access withdrawn

Troubled Kickstarter project Code Hero has gone suddenly and suspiciously dark, reigniting concern that its developers will be unable to deliver on its promises.

Users report the Code Hero website has been offline for at least four days, with backers unable to access alpha testing.

Code Hero developer Primer Labs has been uncommunicative in recent weeks, and backers have once more broached the subject of a class action against the company.

Founder Alex Peake told Develop that the website will be live soon; that a new release is inbound; and that more information will be provided once the site is up again.

Code Hero is a "game that teaches you how to code", and raised $170,000 on Kickstarter. Unfortunately, the project has not gone smoothly - the company ran out of money in December 2012, and by February this year was looking into options for refunding or rewarding backers, without much success.

Primer Labs has said in the past that it has experienced challenges with the latest, long-awaited release but that development is ongoing; unfortunately, with nothing to show for its efforts, it's having a hard time keeping backers happy between sporadic communications.
