Microsoft Points to be culled with release of new Xbox console - rumor

Microsoft will announce Microsoft Points will be culled with the release of its next Xbox console, according to a report.

The Verge states that sources familiar with the matter said Points will be replaced with a new gift card system, similar to iTunes vouchers.

Regular transactions such as credit and debit cards will also be supported, and the new system will span all of Microsoft systems such as its Windows Store, Phone Store, and Xbox Live.

Rumors have stated for what seems eons now that Microsoft had been planning to revamp or kill of it's points systems, and The Verge expects the new to be revealed at E3 in June.
