Shin Megami Tensei 4 combat detailed, new screens released

Shin Megami Tensei 4 publisher Atlus has discussed the intricacies of the game's combat system, peaceful battle resolutions and more. There's also a new batch of 3DS screens in English that largely focus on cut-scenes.

PocketGamer reports that this time around you will be able to lay down your weapon and negotiate peaceful terms with demons, instead of just recklessly slicing them up with swords.

The site adds that the 'Press Turn' battle mechanic has made a comeback, but this time it doles out extra rewards if you target each enemy's specific weakness. If a character keeps on exploiting a weakness they'll gain a 'Smirk', which is a defence and damage boost essentially, but enemies can also do the same to you if you're not careful.

It all sounds rather interesting doesn't it? The game will hit North America on July 16 and has yet to be dated for Europe. In the meantime, check out the latest batch of screens below.
