Avalanche Studios "almost" signed a deal to develop an "open-world" Star Wars game

Avalanche Studios' former manager Oskar Burman said that the Just Cause developer "almost got [a] deal" with LucasArts to develop a "massive, open world" Star Wars game which was a "single-player, open world," title in which on could traverse the galaxy.

Speaking on Twitter in a conversation with CCO Christofer Sundberg, the duo chatted about how "wanting to work with Star Wars goes deep in [Sweden]."

"Long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, we almost got that deal when I was at Avalanche," said Burman.

"If they had given us the deal back then LucasArts would be alive today. A massive SW open world game! We would have rocked it," Sundberg replied.

Burman, who is currently GM at Rovio Stockholm, managed Avalanche from April 2005 and May 2009.

The duo where discussing the proposed game after new broke yesterday of EA signing a deal with Disney to exclusively develop Star Wars game titles.
