Havok announces Project Anarchy 3D mobile engine, free on some platforms

Project Anarchy is the new 3D mobile development engine from Havok. The company announced the tech at GDC and has declared it free to all on some platforms.

GI.biz reports that Project Anarchy will encompass Havok's physics tools, the Vision Engine, AI tech, animation suite and a batch of tutorials geared towards giving indies a leg-up.

The engine will be free on some - as yet unconfirmed - mobile platforms. Developers of any size or nature will be free to apply for the tech, which opens up the potential of the mobile scene significantly.

Havok's head of developer relations Ross O'Dwyer said, "We're consistently blown away by what the AAA industry creates with our technology. We're really delighted to be able to offer these professional grade tools to mobile developers for free and we look forward to supporting the mobile game development community to make some stunning games with the technology over the next few years."

What do you make of the above? Is empowerment of the indie scene growing? Is this a good thing? Let us know below.
