Transistor only possible thanks to Bastion's success

Supergiant Games didn't expect to stick around for a second game, but thanks to the warm reception Bastion received, the gorgeous-looking Transistor is on the way. Hit the break to see the dungeon crawler in action.

In an interview with TotalBiscuit conducted over the gameplay footage below, Supergiant creative director Greg Kasavin mentioned the fact that Bastion's success is what enabled Supergiant to plan beyond their first and potentially only game.

Transistor is a more strategic take on the genre, with Kasavin noting that Bastion was playable as a button-masher. In Transistor, you have the best weapon right from the start, so difficulty is gated by strategy rather than looting. Hear the full interview - and perhaps more importantly, watch some gameplay - below.

No platform information has been confirmed yet but Bastion came out on practically everything, so expect a similar deal. Transistor is due in early 2014.
