Deloitte has completed the sale of Blockbuster UK to Gordon Brothers Europe. The firm purchased the brand license, 264 stores, and the 2,000 jobs which came with the buy. “Having identified a profitable core portfolio of stores we are pleased to have achieved this sale for creditors,” joint administrator Lee Manning stated. “Together with the previously announced store sales more than half of the original estate has been secured for ongoing use. This transaction provides Blockbuster a future in the UK.” The amount paid for the chain was not disclosed. Thanks, MCV.

HMV will reportedly meet with UK game publishers this week, in a bid to secure a place for gaming in the retailer’s revised strategy. It comes after HMV administrators Deloitte made most of the company’s game arm redundant, casting doubt on the matter.
UK supermarket chain ASDA is rumoured to be in talks with HMV administrators Deloitte to put in a bid for the troubled games, music and movies retailer.
