ASDA in talks to buy troubled HMV - rumour

UK supermarket chain ASDA is rumoured to be in talks with HMV administrators Deloitte to put in a bid for the troubled games, music and movies retailer.

The rumour comes from The Sun's chief business reporter, who claimed that Walmart-owned ASDA is interested in more than just the brand, and allegedly wants to have a full hand in running HMV's business if its bid is successful.

The reporter also suggested that - if successful - ASDA may open HMV concessions within its existing stores.

Last month Deloitte issues a list of 37 more HMV stores facing closure across the UK. See the full list of affected sites here:

HMV is said to still have 2,400 actives staff working across its head office and 120 remaining stores.

Thanks MCV.
