Electronic Sports League to pay all outstanding prize monies due by month's end

The Electronic Sports League said it plans to release all prize monies owed by the end of the month.

According to a post on the official website, the statement notes that historically the ESL has "some issues with some prize money being paid late,” it has worked hard to "eradicate these issues over the last 18 months and are now working on the final, remaining backlog of overdue prizes.”

The dispersal of prize monies usually takes up to 90 days; however, in some instances, it has taken winners over a year to receive a payout.

The ESL has said it has a new system in place to "ensure" prizes are delivered in a more timely manner in the future.
