HMV expected to close 66 stores - report

HMV is expected to announce that it will shutter 66 stores across the UK in the next six weeks. An official statement is to be expected later today.
MCV reports that staff at affected sites have been informed this morning, and that Deloitte is culling the number of HMV stores to make the brand a more attractive proposition for potential buyers.
It comes following rumours that up to 100 stores would be shuttered, which should come as some small relief for those spared the chop.
Hilco UK bought HMV's debt last month and MCV adds that the company already owns HMV's Canada stores, which have seen a turnaround since the deal was struck.
