Deep Silver bringing side-scrolling action brawler Sacred Citadel to PSN

Deep Silver has detailed Sacred Citadel, its upcoming side-scrolling action brawler, over on the US PS Blog.

Rupert Ochsner, brand manager at the company, described exactly what developer Southend Interactive are trying to achieve with the game.

"We have been fans of classic action brawlers for a long time. And it grieved us a little that, in recent years, there has been a lack of quality titles that truly harken back to the golden age of brawlers," he wrote.

"Remember the fun you had with this kind of game, especially when playing co-op with your friends? That is exactly what we want to bring back with Sacred Citadel!"

The game mixes a vibrant visual style with extreme violence: a combination that usually sits perfectly together. Four unique heroes are available to control, all of which possess their own combos, special moves, skills and equipment.

Alongside the continuous hack 'n slashery, players will also collect loot from towns, experiment with different weaponry and level up a variety of abilities. Vitally, the game includes both local and online co-op.
