Tiny Barbarian takes to Kickstarter for new chapter

Utterly charming retro platformer Tiny Barbarian is back, and Starquail Games wants your help to bring a new chapter of itsy bitsy pixel adventures to market.

Inspired by classic Caonan the Barbarian stories, Tiny Barbarian (he's 17 pixels tall) debuted on Xbox Live Arcade last year with an initial episode based on The Frost Giant’s Daughter.

Starquail Games wants to produce a whole series of these delights for PC, an initiative I highly approve of, but since part-time development is a slow and painful process, the developer hopes to crowd-fund in order to knock them out a bit faster.

As well as a new story, the next chapter will have new moves, "smoother combos for easier juggles", bosses, "stuff to ride on", improved graphics and more. It's built on the AstroMan engine rather than Game Maker, which allows for multiple improvements fully outlined on the game's Kickstarter page.

In addition to the pitch video through the link, Starquail has produced a gameplay-only video which you can check out below. Starquail is asking for a modest $12,000, and the first new story is expected to launch on PC within a couple of months. Get more information on the official website.
