Star Citizen adds new stretch goals with backer rewards

Star Citizen has revised its crowd funding stretch goals to better reward the people contributing to development.

Although Star Citizen’s crowd funding campaign launched with stretch goals in place for as much as $5 million, creator Chris Roberts has added several more.

“They were broad design concepts that we needed additional funding to achieve. But quite frankly, they weren’t much fun for you and didn’t have enough concrete data,” he said in a post on the project’s core funding platform, Roberts Space Industries.

“So, we’ve heard you: our backers deserve a stretch goal system that isn’t just about game design but about rewarding our incredible community.”

The existing stretch goals will still be honoured, and money raised on both platforms will count towards them, but a new set of goals have been added specifically to the Kickstarter side of things.

When the Kickstarter project reaches $750,000, all backers will start the game with a class I repair bot. The AMX-1 “can access and repair any standard ship system with ease.”

At $2.5 million an additional flyable ship will be added – the Anvil Gladiator, to the game. It’s a civilian variant of a military bomber, capable of packing the heaviest grade antimatter torpedoes and up to two turrets for protection during bombing runs.

The rest of the new stretch goals are yet to be detailed, represented only by “locked” icons in an image on the Kickstarter page.

The RSI campaign has been extended by ten days to match the Kickstarter deadline, too, so there’s still plenty of time to help push Star Citizen to one of these new targets.
