Australian government to introduce development incentives

Huge news for the local industry out of Game Connect Asia Pacific this morning: the Australian Government has plans to introduce financial incentives for local development companies.

MCV Pacific reports the news comes courtesy of Game Developers' Association of Australia CEO Antony Reed.

Details are expected to surface over the next few weeks.

On the state and territory level, the Victorian Government has elected to re-introduce its own incentive scheme, which was cut in May - although with less grant money on offer than in previous years.

GCAP is one of the most important trade events in the Southern Hemisphere and takes place in Melbourne today and tomorrow. The opening address can be seen in full on PlayerAttack; it includes the announcement of PAX Australia's Melbourne location.
