Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 pre-orders shatter GameStop's records

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 seems set to follow the franchise tradition of setting new benchmarks, starting with GameStop's pre-order record.

As reported by CVG, GameStop president Tony Bartel revealed the news, predicting an impressive debut.

"Consumer anticipation for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 is tremendous. We are seeing the highest pre-orders in history," he said.

"With its current pace, this Call of Duty is on track to break records and is likely to be our biggest game launch of all time."

Each Call of Duty game released since Modern Warfare 2 has set successive records around the world, with individual titles taking out crowns as best-selling entertainment products - not just games. Modern Warfare 3 was ousted by Adele in the UK this year; Black Ops 2 looks set to take back the franchise's place come launch in November on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
