Riot has addressed a couple of concerns over the troubles League of Legends Season Two Playoffs this weekend.

As reported yesterday, technical issues interrupted matches on day three. The matches will be rescheduled, with details expected soon. In the meantime, Riot has offered an apology for the technical outages.

“We know the issues during the World Playoffs yesterday sucked. It was frustrating for everyone watching at home, and we feel that frustration,” Riot wrote on the League of Legends blog.

“We’re taking everything we’ve learned from yesterday to make the conclusion of the Playoffs and the World Finals next Saturday as great as they can possibly be.”

To compensate viewers, Riot will be handing out double IP for 24 hours, kicking off at midnight PST October 14.

Regarding allegations of cheating by checking opponents’ minimaps during the playoffs, eSports vice president Dustin Beck took to the forum to report on Riot’s investigations so far. There are two incidents which have attracted particular notice from fans, but the developer seems satisfied so far that no cheating took place.

“We are re-examining photos, videos and renders of the stage layout to definitively understand sight lines between the players on-stage and the minimaps overhead. We’re taking it a step further moving forward to completely ensure the screens aren’t visible to players,” Beck said.

“Forward-facing camera angles can be misleading and we want to make sure everyone has the full picture before drawing any conclusions. This is something that we believe requires a comprehensive investigation but we absolutely understand why it’s cause for alarm.”

League of Legends Season Two is one of the most lucrative eSports scenes around; there’s $5 million on the table in total including a tasty $1 million for the grand final winner,
