Assassin's Creed 3 to have a DLC Season Pass

Assassin's Creed 3 turned up in this week's PlayStation Store update in a mysterious Gold Edition - including a DLC season pass.

The description of the Gold Edition mentions that it includes a Season Pass, but doesn't go into detail on what that is. Luckily, a later comment from community manager Kristine Steimer explained.

"It gets you future DLC at a slight discount for purchasing it up front," she said.

A later exchange confirms the pass will be sold separately, too.

The Season Pass is distinct from an Online Pass, which will allow those who purchase the game second-hand to pay a fee to access online features.

There's no word yet on whether the PC and Xbox 360 versions will have a similar system, or on concrete pricing. We'll update when further details surface.

Assassin's Creed 3 arrives on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 at the end of the month; it hits PC and Wii U in November. A Vita tie-in launches alongside the console versions.

Thanks, Shack.
