Ace Attorney 5 sales may help localise lost Miles Edgeworth title

Ace Attorney 5 will probably sell like hotcakes when it arrives in the west, which may lend a hand to finally bringing over Ace Attorney Investigations 2.

“Ace Attorney Investigations 2 isn’t being held hostage so please don’t read this that way but if [Ace Attorney 5 and upcoming iOS ports] do well, they certainly can’t hurt,” senior vice president Christian Svensson said on the Capcom Unity forum.

“Justification for higher forecasts via stronger than expected sales in the franchise would be helpful.”

Ace Attorney Investigations 2, the second of a spin-off series starring former antagonist Miles Edgeworth, released for DS in Japan in February 2011 is the only series entry not localised so far.

Svensson may have been joking a little when he admitted to exaggerating a little in telling Capcom Japan how much we want Ace Attorney 5 localised.

“The forecasts for Ace Attorney 5 I’ve put in are aggressive (high) relative to the historical performance of the franchise (needed to make sure it came over), so I’m counting on you guys to not make me a liar,” he said.

Good work Svensson; please tell some delicious fibs regarding Professor Layton vs Ace Attorney, too.

Ace Attorney 5 was announced in January this year but has only recently been detailed; it will be the first core Ace Attorney game for 3DS.
