Earth Defence Force 4 takes the mass multiplayer route

A few more slim details have emerged regarding Earth Defence Force 4, first teased back in July.

According to Siliconera, Famitsu has the game down for a PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 launch in 2013; the Xbox 360 inclusions suggests a western release is on the cards.

This new entry will have support for "online play for a large number of people".

The last core Earth Defence Force title was 2007 release EDF 2017, but spin-off Insect Armageddon did reasonably well last year, and was the first in the series to support multiplayer - for up to six people. Presumably EDF4 will top that.
