TERA - NA servers are being merged on September 18

TERA's servers are being merged after four months on the market in North America, according to the game's producer Chris Hager.

The mergers will not affect EU servers run by Gameforge, the firm has told VG247.

According to the latest producer's letter, Bluehole - which suffered a round of layoffs recently - and publisher En Masse Entertainment will be merging the MMO's 11 servers into three: one PvE, one PvP, and one roleplaying server.

"We’ve got several metrics to measure server activity—and many of ours are below the mark," wrote Hager. "We’ve also been listening to the issues our players have been having in the game: lack of resources, lack of groups, extended wait times for dungeons, and so on. We feel that the best way to address these problems is to increase the number of simultaneous players on our servers.

"Where some might look on this as a negative, I feel differently. By combining our servers, we facilitate a more unified community and give players a more full, alive world where finding groups, locating rare items (for lower prices), and getting into dungeons quickly are the norm. Most importantly, combined servers will allow us to run more regular, player-focused events where we get to interact with our players."

The news isn't all just server mergers though, according to Hager. By the end of September, players can participate in player-focused events and interact with TERA team members.

In October, Halloween events will take place, and other plans include a battlegrounds tournament in November and a holiday in-game event during the winter months.

Several content updates will also release throughout the fall.

TERA's North American servers will merge on September 18, and a detailed FAQ regarding the process can be found here. The FAQ will be updated further as more information becomes available.
