FIFA 13 dev can't see 'cross play between formats happening'

FIFA 13 has a number of cross format profile features that allow players to interact - be they on PS3, Xbox 360, PC and more - but actually being able to play matches across those formats in future is wishful thinking, FIFA's executive producer has said.

In an interview with AusGamers, FIFA executive producer David Rutter said of cross format play, "for the EA Sports Football club, it kind of is [cross platform], and we’ve been lucky to have brilliant partners in both Sony and Microsoft when dealing with that, and obviously Apple with their iOS devices has been great too."

"So I think as far as actually being able to play head-to-head, or anything like that, I can’t ever envisage a time when that would happen," Rutter added, "but certainly for profiles and things like that, and sharing of certain stuff, is absolutely doable, and we’re really, really pleased that they’re letting us do it."

So don't expect console wars to be decided by an old-fashioned online kickabout anytime soon guys and gals.

Thanks AusGamers.
