Xbox 720 - alleged dev kit sold for $20K on eBay

An alleged Xbox 720 development has been sold on eBay, apparently hailing from the same source as recent leaked images.

The eBay listing for the "Microsoft XBOX Durango Development Kit" had six days left a auction when the listing was ended early. The listing attracted 43 bids, despite containing just one photo and no details, and sold for $20,100.

The seller is listed as SuperDae, the same handle used to leak details of an apparently genuine Durango development kit, including Kinect 2 images which surfaced over the weekend. The listing's sober lack of details doesn't fit SuperDae's character to date, and the photo quality is very different from his previous efforts, casting its authenticity into even more doubt.

Selling development kits is almost certainly a violation of the distribution agreement; expect Microsoft to give this one a fair legal smacking if it is real. The platform holder is yet to respond to requests for comment.

Development kits for Microsoft's next console - which will almost certainly look like PCs until much closer to release date - are believed to have been distributed in February. Current rumour and analysis has a new Xbox slated to launch in mid to late 2013.

Thanks, CVG.
