Wing Commander and Quake designer Paul Steed has passed away

The Jace Hall Show reports that Paul Steed has died, although details of his passing are unavailable at this time. The veteran designer is best known for his work on the Wing Commander and Quake franchises, but he also held high-ranking roles at Atari and Microsoft, and in recent years headed up UTV Ignition's shuttered Texas studio before founding a new company called Exigent. His list of credits is impressive; it seems we've lost something of a hero. Steed is survived by a wife and children; our best wishes for his friends and family.
