SOE removes option to purchase DLC and expansion packs using Station Cash

SOE has announced plans to remove the ability to purchase DLC and expansion packs for some of its MMOs using Station Cash.

Come August 27, players will have to use real-world currency instead for EverQuest and EverQuest II expansions, and for DC Universe Online DLC.

"The reason for this is simply that these products require a high level of development resource and are therefore a substantial cost," read a statement from SOE on the forums.

"We want to continue to run aggressive Station Cash promotions, which we know our customers love, but cannot continue to do this and protect the revenue that we need to offset these costs."

To compensate, players who would like the opportunity to purchase current expansion and DLC Packs for EQ and EQ2 with Station Cash, a 50% discount is available until Sunday, August 12.

Thanks, Massively.
