Dragon Quest X sells 420,000 copies in first week

Dragon Quest X, the first MMO entry to the popular RPG series has shifted 420,00 copies in its first week on sale in Japan, Famitsu reports.

Andriasang reports that Dragon Quest X's launch week figures fall well below other numbered entries in the series.

Comparatively Dragon Quest IX on DS sold 2,353,440 in its first week of launch, while Dragon Quest VIII shifted 2,237,000 copies in its first week.

However, Wii hardware sales spiked to 41,561 units for the week, placing it above PlayStation 3's 14,544 units. But once again, the 3DS was the top-selling system in Japan with 118,786 units.
