US Army opens bidding process on new Games for Training title

Four years after adopting Bohemia Interactive's Virtual Battlespace 2 as its primary training game, the US Army is looking for a new shooter with an extensive list of interesting features.

Kotaku reports the Army's request for proposals includes a 243-page technical specifications document and a thirteen page checklist of requirements.

The wishlist includes being able to call in artillery fire, medevac missions and Arab and Afghan female suicide bombers.

The required shooter would be focused on "small wars" - those involving insurgents in particular. This is particularly noticable in the huge array of civilian vehicles and structures the game will need to feature.

The contract is worth $44.5 million over five years, and like past games will likely be licensed to international military organisations like British, Canadian and Australian special forces.
