GOG launches Battle of the Games summer promo

To celebrate the slow, creeping arrival of the European summer, digital distribution service GOG.com is running a Battle of the Games promotion in which visitors to the site decide which of a daily pair of games receives the biggest discount.

GOG.com is running a summer promotion between June 19 and July 5 in which two games will go up against one another each day in a Battle of the Games face-off.

Visitors to the site will choose which should win each match-up, with the winner of the popular vote receiving a 60 percent discount and the "loser" receiving a 40 percent discount, for the following 24 hours. Each round begins at 1pm GMT / 9am EST and lasts for 24 hours.

The first round begins today, with classic puzzle-adventure titles Myst: Masterpiece Edition going up against The 7th Guest. At the time of writing, Myst has 7,107 votes and The 7th Guest has 5,196.

A press release issued by GOG.com reads:

"Even though the final line-up remains a mystery and new pair of games will be revealed every day, GOG.com users can expect dozens of highest quality DRM-free titles, including Psychonauts, The Witcher, and Broken Sword: Director's Cut, duelling for fame and discounts until the early days of July."

In a separate promotion, GOG.com is offering two Ultima-themed titles for free.
