Animal Crossing 3DS still a thing despite a "no show" at E3

Nintendo's still on course to release the 3DS version of Animal Crossing despite it being mysteriously absent from E3 last week.

The confirmation came from none other than Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime who briefly told Kotaku that's it's still very much on the cards:

"Animal Crossing is a game that is in development."

The game was announced back in 2010 but has had very little information released for it ever since; it will see players take on the role of Mayor of the animal village.

Animal Crossing 3DS is expected to release in northern autumn 2012 in Japan as scheduled.
