UK online retailer Shopto is the first to place a price on Wii U at £280

Both the white and black versions of the hardware listed by the site for £279.99.

Nintendo has actually yet to price or date the console beyond just holiday 2012.

The Swedish arm of GAME has also gone up with a separate listing for the GamePad at £135. It was confirmed during the Nintendo E3 press conference that two GamePads could be used on one Wii U.

Again, Nintendo has yet to price the GamePad for a separate release. The Pro Controller is also listed for over £60.

  • You're not getting dual-GamePad gaming on Wii U anytime soon

Nintendo promised back in 2012 Wii U games making use of two GamePads would be released “sometime next year.” Next year being 2013. It’s 2014 now, and according to Shigeru Miyamoto dual-GamePad functionality isn’t part of Nintendo’s “objectives in the short-term.”

  • Wii U Game Pad high-capacity battery on sale in North America

Nintendo of America has begun selling high-capacity battery packs for the Wii U Game Pad, an add-on heretofore available elsewhere but mysteriously absent from North America. The $32 peripheral boasts up to eight hours of use, up from the regular battery’s maximum of five hours. Grab it from the Nintendo Store. Thanks, Destructoid.
