Epic Mickey 2 to feature muscial numbers, 2D levels return, first boss battle revealed

New gameplay footage from Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two has been released, confirming that 2D levels will return in the upcoming sequel and also revealing the game's first boss encounter.

Demonstrated by creative director Warren Spector on Spike TV, the following footage from the Xbox 360 version shows 2D gameplay from a level based on the 1937 Disney cartoon The Old Mill.

The demo then transitions to the game's first boss battle, which is revealed to be Elliott from Pete's Dragon, based on his appearance in the Electric Light Parade at Disney theme parks.

Epic Mickey 2 will feature a fully voiced cast and, according to Spector, musical numbers will feature heavily in the title. "We wanted to take the opportunity to have some songs to further the plot, tell the story, and talk about what people are feeling and stuff. There are going to be several moments where people break into song," Spector explains.
