Activision has lured Martyn Brown, co-founder of Worms developer Team 17, to head a new studio in the UK.

Develop reports Brown has been given free rein to source staff for the new team, which will focus on mobile development.

Activision confirmed it’s making a push for mobile including a new UK studio, but wouldn’t give further details.

Trade organisations UKIE and TIGA both welcomed the news as a positive sign of returning international interest in British development following progress on the tax break front,
after the publisher largely withdrew from Britain last year with the closure of Bizarre Creations and downgrade of FreeStyle Games.
