Diablo III accounts hacked and stripped of loot

European Diablo III players have reported a significant number of account hacks.

Eurogamer reports a number of Diablo III players, including the site's own Chris Donlan, have had their accounts hacked and stripped of all valuables.

The timing of a spate of hacks just prior to an unexpected European server maintenance windows has led to speculation that an SQL injection may be responsible.

Some users have reported hacks despite using Blizzard's Authenticator service; tech savvy users speculate that session identifiers may be being exploited.

Blizzard is working to restore lost items to affected players but not everything will be recoverable.
