Ur-Dragon event mode announced for Dragon's Dogma

Capcom has announced an encounter mode for Dragon's Dogma in which players and their pawns can log onto PSN or XBL and compete collectively online in "an asynchronous encounter" against the dreaded Ur-Dragon.

According to the firm, the effect of each party’s attacks will be combined to take the Ur-Dragon down, but it will take multiple encounters before the beast falls. If you are the one who deals the fatal blow, you will receive the maximum reward, but those who don't can still obtain both common and rare items dropped as damage is inflicted on the dragon.

Players without an online connection can also take on the Ur-Dragon alone, but the rewards will be different to those received online.

All slayers of the Ur-Dragon will have "their names and play times recorded in a hall of fame for others to view and aim to beat."

Check out the massive beast in the video and shots below.

The Ur-Dragon challenge will be made available when Dragon’s Dogma releases in North America on May 22 and across Europe on May 25.
