Square Enix E3 2012 lineup detailed - no Versus XIII

Square Enix has confirmed a hefty line-up of games for E3 this year, with one glaring - if predictable - absence.

Five of the seven games the Japanese publisher is fronting are western-developed; Crystal Dynamics' Tomb Raider; IO Interactive's Hitman: Absolution; United Front Games' Sleeping Dogs; Airtight Games' Quantum Conundrum; and n-space's Heroes of Ruin.

Both Japanese games are internal jobs; Kingdom Hearts 3D Dream Drop Distance and Theatrhythm Final Fantasy.

Final Fantasy Versus XIII, announced at E3 2006 as a companion to Final Fantasy XIII, is not included on the list. The RPG has been expected at every major gaming event for the last few years, but director Tetsuya Nomura said in March that the full reveal had been mysteriously held up. The game's music will feature in Theatrhythm Final Fantasy, though, suggesting it's not as vapourous as might be thought.

E3 2012 runs June 5 through 7.
