Final Fantasy writer, artist and composer team up for iOS RPG

A handful of prominent talents from the Final Fantasy series have joined forces to produce Borderwalker, a neat little RPG for iDevices.

Siliconera reports the game is the product of FFVII and FFVIII scenario writer Kazushige Nojima; FFVI and FFIX art director Hideo Minaba; prolific comsposer Nobuo Uematsu; and Baten Kaitos character designer Nakaba Higurashi.

The RPG's core conceit is a battle system which takes place on a three by three grid, with players touching different sectors to discover new skills. As well as the core campaign, players can unlock secrets by playing bonus scenarios, explore dungeons and fight in a colosseum.

It comes with a destiny-driven plot; the game's world is split into Day land and Night Land, with those born during an eclipse able to cross between the two realms. As one such favoured individual, the player must reunite the two halves.

If you're good at Japanese (or don't care for words) you can grab the game now from iTunes Japan. Otherwise, sit tight and cross your fingers for localisation; it sounds pretty cool. Check out a trailer below.
