Nintendo 3DS system update now available, adds folders

The latest firmware update for the Nintendo 3DS is now available worldwide, adding folder support to the console among other features.

As announced during the Nintendo Direct conference livestream last week, the update adds the ability to organise games, apps, and videos into folders to streamline the home screen. Each folder is able to hold up to 60 items.

The eShop interface has been redesigned, adding a new recommendation system.

The most important inclusion in the update is the ability to update select 3DS software. The first title to utilise the feature will be Mario Kart 7, with a patch expected mid-May to correct the notorious Maka Wuhu shortcut exploit.
