Valve quashes Tim Cook visit rumour

Gabe Newell has put to bed the one about Apple visiting Valve.

Speaking to Seven Day Cooldown in an upcoming podcast, as reported by Kotaku, the Valve boss said he hadn't had any visitors from Apple, least of all CEO Tim Cook.

"No one here was meeting with Tim Cook or with anybody at Apple that day. I wish we were. We have a long list of things we'd love to see Apple do to support games and gaming better," he said.

"But no, we didn't meet with Tim Cook. He seems like a smart guy, but I've never actually met him."

Newell said the rumour gained ground so quickly that even Valve employees wondered if it were true.

The rumour of Cook's visit came just as Valve made its hardware plans public and whispers of an Apple console were floated, making for a triple whammy of speculative delight.
