Farmville 2 looks to be on the cards

Social gaming's most beloved and derided agricultural simulator seems to be getting a sequel.

Superannuation turned up the CV of a copywriter who "contributed concepts and copy for several new business presentations, including the successful Malibu Black and FarmVille 2 pitches".

Although Farmville wasn't Zynga's first Facebook game success story - Mafia Wars predates it, among others - it has become one of the social publisher's most recognisable titles, and is often cited as an example of all that is wrong and right about social games by critics and fans respectively.

As the publisher has begun spinning sequels from its most popular titles, a Farmville 2 announce has been notably absent.

Now, what amazing bombshell could Zynga consider big enough news that it has booked an E3 appearance?

As of last week, Farmville was the fifth most popular game on Facebook, with 27,400,000 monthly average users.
