Mortal Kombat developer hiring for next gen projects

NetherRealm is the latest developer to kick off preparation for the next console cycle.

As noted by Gamespot, the Mortal Kombat developer is seeking at least two new staffers. The first, a gameplay software engineer, is wanted to join in "creating game systems for exciting, cutting-edge action games on current and Next Gen consoles".

Another opening for a senior software engineer is more explicit, seeking someone to assist in "porting the current development engine to Next Generation consoles as well as integrating new middleware for said consoles".

NetherRealm's only known project is Mortal Kombat Vita, which is due in May, but the studio has indicated it will take on other projects soon.

NetherRealm joins a large number of developers spotted prepping for a new hardware cycle in recent months, including DICE, Ready at Dawn, Obsidian and Bethesda.

VG247 has been told that the PlayStation 4 will release ahead of the next Xbox console in late 2013.
