Capcom responds to fan Better Business Bureau complaint about on-disc DLC

Capcom have issued an official response to a fan who complained to the Better Business Bureau about all Street Fighter X Tekken's downloadable content being kept on-disc.

"SFxT has an enormous amount of content, fully developed and available for play and enjoyment immediately on-disc," the response begins. "Given the 38 characters available for full play, as well as multiple play modes, SFxT provides great value for all players from day one."

"While Capcom is sorry that some of its fans are not happy about the chosen method of delivery for the DLC, we believe that this method will provide more flexible and efficient gameplay throughout the game's lifecycle. There is effectively no distinction between the DLC being ''locked'' behind the disc and available for unlocking at a later date, or being available through a full download at a later date, other than delivery mechanism."

Capcom's reasoning - while not explicitly stated here - is that they eliminate the need for a hard drive space sapping download for players who don't want to buy the new characters but still want to play online. With the new characters and costumes on disc everyone can see and fight against them - even if they haven't purchased them.

The downside is that hackers are already playing as the characters - even online - through nefarious methods.

There's a total of 10 closed complaints on Capcom in the last 12 months on the Better Business Bureau site, and most seem to relate to issues with their DLC approach.

The first batch of DLC for the game is due tomorrow and will feature additional costumes for the cast.
