159 billion samurai slain in Total War: Shogun 2, patch inbound

Sega has sent over a neat infographic showing just how popular Total war: Shogun 2 is - just in time to hype you for the launch of its stand alone expansion.

Shogun 2 launched in March 2011. In the interim, players have logged over 1754 years of playtime, and fought 200 million campaign battles. This and other pertinent facts arranged neatly below; click to enlarge.

These numbers are sure to rise with the new content dropping this week; stand-alone expansion Fall of the Shogun releases on March 23. The Creative Assembly has detailed a massive patch for Shogun 2 which will prepare for its release; although you don't need the core game to play the expansion, the patch will allow both groups to engage in multiplayer matches.

This means a bunch of free content for Shogun 2 owners including maps, Steam Cloud support, and larger battles - and a huge pile of tweaks and bug fixes. see the full patch notes here.
