Hydrophobia developer enters administration

Manchester developer Dark Energy Digital has been unable to avoid a financial death knell.

GamesIndustry reports administration firm Leonard Curtis stepped in on March 16.

There is some suggestion that the studio's assets and IP may remain in the hands of its founders, Pete and Deborah Jones, thanks to their quickdraw founding of a new company, Dark Energy Publishing. Technical director Gary Leach is also on board the start up, which may be able to secure a bargain purchase of Dark Energy Digital's tech, including its interesting proprietary water engine.

Rumours of the developer's woes broke in mid-February after its major downloadable release, Hydrophobia, failed to spark sales interest last year.
